The CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium and the CONCORDA project have the common objective to perform and promote, directly and indirectly, international standardisation and contribute to the establishment of a global information infrastructure.

In order to reach this goal, CAR 2 CAR Communication and the CONCORDA project have decided to further structure and strengthen their relationship and foster a closer co-operation, signing a Memorandum of Understanding.

The scope of CONCORDA goes beyond just defining the profiles for cellular communication to be used in addition to the ones already available, or being created for short-range communication technologies. CONCORDA aims at ensuring seamless integration and interoperability of long-range and short-range communication technologies.

About CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium

The CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium (C2C-CC) is a non-profit industry organisation initiated by European vehicle manufacturers, open for suppliers, research organisations and other partners. CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium is dedicated to the objective of further increasing road traffic safety and efficiency by means of ad-hoc inter-vehicle and vehicle-to-roadside infrastructure communications. The Consortium aims at developing and releasing an open European standard and associated validation process for cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS), with focus on inter-vehicle-communication systems.

C2C-CC shall also be a key contributor to the development of a European interoperable standard and associated validation process for vehicle-to-roadside infrastructure communication.

The targeted results are standardisation and demonstrated technical and commercial feasibility; CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium bases the development of the European standard and the complementing industry one on the openness to new interested members.
